Two years after the events of the first film, Aatami Korpi has moved on from gold mining to a more sentimental mission. He returns to his former home in Karelia, a territory Finland ceded to the Soviet Union following the war. Korpi’s family was murdered in this house during the war. He decides to dismantle the house piece by piece, load the lumber onto a truck, and transport it back across the border to Finnish soil to rebuild it as a monument to his wife and children.
