Michael “Mike” Foster, a former soldier now working as a contractor with a small team. Mike and his team are in a dangerous, post conflict country, initially tasked with a civil engineering project, such as building a dam. Their job is complicated by constant hostility from rebels, assassins, and smugglers. Mike is drawn into a brutal conflict when he encounters and rescues a kidnapped journalist, Amelia Turner.
